An earthquake of magnitude 6.6 hit Greek island of Kos, and Bodrum in Turkey (12 Km of epicenter) on Thursday 20 July 2017 at 22:31 UTC (01:31 local time). More information on the main shock is available here.
At least two people, likely foreign tourists, were killed on the Greek island of Kos, the local mayor has told media, saying they had been killed when the ceiling of a building collapsed. Major damage was reported in Kos islands. Some property damages near Bodrum town (Turkey). Churches, an old mosque, the port's 14th-century castle and other old buildings that suffered in the quake were being checked by archaeologists and experts from Greece's Culture Ministry.

More than 320 aftershocks with magnitude larger than 2.5 have been recorded within 72 hours after the main shock. Twenty of these earthquakes exceeded magnitude 4.0.
